Daytona kindly sent me a free race (with a paying driver) for my upcoming birthday, so I went to Sandown with CS Karting to have a Sodi sprint race. The weather was lovely, if a little hot for my liking. It’s only the second time I’ve done this layout (the first was in Dmax) so I wasn’t expecting to do particularly well. And I didn’t. I had an horrendous start, going out way too wide and trying to stay out of peoples way. Once I’d got settled I managed to make up a few places, but then for some unknown reason I panicked when the guy in front of me span out, and ended up facing the wrong way. That cost me 4 places, but did give me a clear track so I was able to get some good laps in after that. Nearly made up another place right at the end but didn’t quite have the pace. I was a little disappointed with the karts. I swapped with CS Karting because the pedals on her kart wouldn’t move, and then my kart refused to start. The guy in 4th place qualifying also had to change karts just before the start because his basically blew up. CS Karting won the race 4 seconds clear of second place. I was a little further back in the field…
Tomorrow we’re off to try Lakeside, but they don’t allow cameras for some unknown reason 🙁
