CS Karting convinced me to try another members 342 tonight, and much fun was had. I was thinking about calling it a day after the qualifier because my shoulder was giving me grief, and I only managed 40.1 and was in 2nd to last place. A couple of cheeky Amitriptyline and Codeine in the break eased the pain, and I started in 13th, determined not to come last again. I managed a couple of overtakes and got up to 10th place, but Kart number 9 had no intention of letting me pass, and no matter what I tried I just couldn’t grab 9th place; his defensive driving was too good for me. It was a great race though and I’m happy to be back in the low 39’s. Not looking forward to the meds wearing off! CS Karting came in 3rd and also had the fastest lap of the night at 37.933, which although it sounds ridiculously fast to me is a bit off her PB, and she probably would have done better had she not kept slowing down in the qualifier so I could follow her on that damn hairpin by the up ramp. Starting to get a little better at the 30 minute stints, they no longer leave me completely crippled, but I still prefer 15 minutes races. If I’m not completely knackered when I get up tomorrow I’ll be booking me and the girls in to Wycombe again for Friday.
As an aside, I must remember to not bother recording in 8k at the Dunstable track. The difference in light between the upper and lower levels causes an issue with the camera, and 8k is stuck at 30fps….and the files are huge and take an age for my 4080 to process! Better to use 5.7k+ @ 60fps. Might even try lowering the resolution and going for more fps next time, post processing should be able to deal with the light changes better
All in all it was a great evening, and good sportsmanship all round. Just remember to sneak your own water bottle in or get fleeced…almost 6 quid for 2 bottles of water! Top tip Teamsport…charge a reasonable amount and I’ll buy them more often.
